Biography

Ann is an Adjunct Professor at St. John's University's School of Education - having taught Technology for the Classroom, EdTPA Teacher Certification Training, and Innovative Strategies in Educational Teaching Methods. Additionally, Ann is the current chair of the Science Dept, STEAM / STEM Coordinator and Science Teacher at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School in Queens, New York with NYS Certification in Biology Secondary Education and A/P Certification for A/P and A/P Environmental Science.

Ann received her bachelor’s degree in the sciences from City University of New York (CUNY) Queens College, Master of Science in Adolescent Education (Biology) from St. John's University, and is currently working on her dissertation as a Doctoral Candidate at St. John's University - Curriculum and Instruction in STEM Education.

Ann began working with The Rory Staunton at its inception, when it was established in memory of Rory Staunton, who died of sepsis at age 12. The Foundation is dedicated to improving the recognition and treatment of sepsis through public education and improved hospital protocols. Sepsis is the leading cause of death in infants and children worldwide.

Ms. Smith is active in the arts and cultural life of her school and community, leading her school choir, directing school plays, teaching drama, music, and guitar, and she is a musician in her spare time. She has led the St. Mary's Winfield summer program for neighborhood and underprivileged children for more than a decade
